Nearly one million young people in the UK are now not in work or education (is one your son? daughter? granddaughter? grandson? niece? nephew?

ONE MILLION - THAT'S WHY I STARTED PODUCATION CIC!

The latest estimates put it at 957,000 aged 16 to 24… and 547,000 are not currently looking for work (ITV news 26th feb 2026).

That is not just an employment stat. That is confidence, skills, identity and opportunity slipping away.

ITV’s coverage also points to what many of us see on the ground… when young people drift away from work and learning, the knock-on impact can include poorer mental health and higher risk of contact with the criminal justice system.

We are set to use podcasting and audio skills as an engagement tool to build:

Digital confidence

Communication and teamwork

Routine and responsibility

Employability skills and progression

Not everyone needs another classroom. Many need a practical, creative route back in… and a programme that helps them finish something and feel proud of it.
